AutismeCentraalMethodology

Make a positive difference in the lives of people with autism, whatever their age or level of development!

Looking at autism differently

The Autisme Centraal Methodology helps you look differently at the behaviour of people with autism and at your own approach to support. We don’t believe in one single method, intervention programme or therapy. That is why we offer a solid, inspiring and evolving framework, a methodology, presenting six foundations in two visual dashboards.

Dashboards for creative thinkers

The dashboards are a valuable tool for personal reflection. They help you evaluate your approach and vision, and show what works well and what works less well. The buttons and sliders encourage you to think about how to make the world more understandable for people with autism and how to help them stay in control.

We are currently in te proces of translating our method to English!

The six foundations

The Autism Central Methodology helps you look at the behaviour of people with autism and your own approach differently. No fixed step-by-step plan or magical solution, but a powerful compass with 6 inextricably linked foundations. They provide insight, inspiration, and support to create an autism-friendly environment, in every context and for all ages.

Basic calm

Basic calm is not the same as doing nothing, but is achieved by balancing challenges and opportunities and adjusting the environment. This creates more breathing space.

Autistic thinking

People with autism process information differently, which can make the world feel chaotic and confusing. Look through an autistic lens and make a real difference in communication and guidance.

Concrete communication

Clarify through concrete communication by communicating sufficiently explicitly and positively, taking into account the level of understanding.

Functionality

Help people with autism grow in independence by discovering together what is truly important, useful, and motivating to learn in each phase or situation.

Uniqueness

Everyone is unique, with their own talents, challenges, and needs. Take the time to really get to know someone with autism and discover how to provide the right support.

Dual track

Always take into account the environment (time, space, activity…) and the person (social, communication, leisure…).
